hey . I'm thinking about getting the stage one supercharger from stillen. Would I need any other upgrades besides the sparkplugs? Thanks

Yup... as far as I know you need to change your hood for it to fit. Unlike a Vortech..

Get the Vortech Supercharger. You don't have to worry about the hood. And, many infiniti mechanics are getting quite comfortable with the Vortech supercharger. it is almost their supercharger of choice. Stillen is Nismo's supercharger of choice. And i have heard that the Vortech produces a little more hP than the stillen. However, it appears the stillen is safer for our engines. Give these conditions some thought, before you buy. Goodluck.

The Stillen is safest because it's a "roots" style charger. The Vortech, similar to a turbo, is a centrifugal type of charger. A turbo uses exhaust gas to spin the compressor, a supercharger uses belts from the engine pulley system.

The stage 3-4 stillen will have more power, but as mentioned you need a hood cowl or aftermarket one to use it. The vortech doesn't have hood clearance problems.

Which one to get depends on you. What are you looking to do with the car? If you want a 500HP monster, go turbo. If you want more reliability (and don't mind the hood), go with the Stillen. If you just want 120-150 more HP, go with the Vortech.

Search the site; a few members have FI.

Stillen and vortech both promote safe boost. Out of the box they will be under or around 400 hp. Both in the safe threshold of a stock vq35de motor. Stillen will be faster off the line because it is positive displacement.

As stated before, if you want an all out monster of 500+hp go twin turbo. There have been people who have gotten a supercharger and wanted more power. But you will have to reinforce the motor and drop the compression if you were that serious. All depends on your $$$.

Kmech_7:

How does the supercharger feel? Have you changed any parts of your car in order for it to handle the stresses on the transmission and engine? How is the reliability with your car? How much more power can I get with a revv up engine?

What type of upgrade did you get for the supercharger? How many ponies are you getting out of it? How is your gas mileage with the supercharger?
