supercharger questions????

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Well basically the title explains it. As most know i have a 6.0 swap going in my 240(eventually it will happen ). And i have given up on the carb swap aswell. I have been working with a shop here in my home town that specialize's in corvette's, xtrememotorsports.com to be exact. And they are going to help me out with alot of things, but that is another story. Anyway back to topic.

My ? is does anyone think that a eaton m90 of a grand prix would be enough for this motor. Before you jump to no, it was made for a v-6, cause i know that. I am feeding it with two borg warner s200 turbo's. I was at work today and was reading a fast ford's and mustangs mag and come across a very extensive article on compound charging. Well in there i saw that the effenciency of the supercharger went way up.

It went on to say that they had 11 psi from the sc'er and 7 psi from the turbo's. And they're expectations combined was of course 18 psi, but what actually happened was a final manifold pressure was 23 psi. And basically what i gathered from this is that the turbo's did such a good job at raiseing the efficiency of the sc'er so it didnt have to work as hard to scavage air it put out 5 psi more at cooler temps. Oh the manifold air temp was only 88 degrees also.

I know of a couple companies that use the m90 for mustangs and such, and i know it is a good shot smaller than a 6.0 but at lower boost levels and being force fed by two turbo's i was wondering if the m90 would be capable of keeping up. What ya think????? Thanks.

My question is why? I mean yea Super charged will be instant boost but the 6.0 block will provide plenty of low end and small turbos spool extremely fast on v8s. You essentially have twin supra motors, one for each turbo (3.0L/Turbo).

Save your money on the amount of fab work it would take to do this and just turbo it if you want boost.

I dont know i just have this itch that i cant scratch with twincharging. I have the two turbo's(brand new) and the m90 laying around. You are about right though with all the power the 6.0 will make naturally there really aint much point of the sc'er anyway. In that same artical it also said that compared psi the turbo's alone did out perform the twincharged setup by 200hp and nearly the same torque wise.

Peak horsepower that is. Prob what ill do is build everything for just the tt setup and if i get bored maybe fab up a intake and set that thing on top of there and just pipe to it.

Either way just something that was on my mind. Also anyone know much about the borg warner s200 series turbo's. There really isnt alot of info on the net about them. At least that i could find.

Just to answer your question, the M90 is to small. A simple setup for boost would be a T70 remote mounted. Very easy to do and not very expensive.

Boost is ALWAYS better then NA IMO
