Is that a supercharger on this CA? Looks like a centrifugal type supercharger.

definately looks like it to me!

my mate has a CA18DET, and he pulled the turbo off and stuck a 1GGZE supercharger on it.goes pretty hard!....I'm sorting him out a ECU with 2 maps so he can change between the different maps when turns the S/C on and off

did he stick it where the A/C is at? Or is it more like where this other guy in the pick has his? I've contemplated it, but I couldn't ever find a supercharger that I thought would move enough air and I wouldn't have to do a stupid amount of plumbing for.

nah, but from what I've heard it was pretty low... it was a drift car in japan, they wanted low end, but it wasn't making any huge #'s. TMS might know more about it. if that is in fact the supercharger from an AW11 MR2 it comes from a 1.6 liter motor (4AGZE). That supercharger is made for an even smaller motor than the CA18! Needless to say, it probaly has pretty limited flow capabilities.

Yeah Option did it, they did an RB20DE Cefiro too. It wasn't very impressive. A local shop did it as well, very sanitary install but it didn't make good sense, for all the cost and difficulty in doing it a basic bolt-on turbo kit was still much more powerful.

my mates one is mounted pretty much in the same position....his is off a much bigger motor than the 4age....so will intersting to see how it goes.

at the moment, he has just pulled it out to re-build the engine ( just as a standard fresh build )....and will definately be putting it on the dyno once built to get the fueling sorted.....I will post them once he gets it done...

for a drifter I could see the attraction. The instant boost, not a bunch but definately usable. If you do it though get a 1GZ one, they are off a 2-liter engine. You wouldn&t want this one

Twin charging a CA is pointless. Even if you used a small supercharger and a decent size T3 variant turbocharger, it's efforts will still supercede the gains. Selecting the proper size turbocharger for your application is still (IMHO), the best way to go for a CA or any dual purpose performance engine/car.

MA09ERT

Nissan did it. From the factory. something stupid like 150hp from a .9L 8V OHV (may have been an SOHC, not sure) It was computer controlled with a bypass valve. It was refrence to the manifold and set as a specific psi. As the turo started to spool the output of the SC was bypassed back into the intake of the SC untill it reached full boost on the turbo and then the ECU turned the SC off. Very complicated, but it seemed to have worked.

I'd like a front clip of one. Not for the motor, but to see how they worked the plumbing and bypasses.

every twin-charged motor I have seen has the turbo first, intercooler in any then the supercharger. More trouble than it's worth IMO.

No, but I can get one if you really feel it's a must to have.

easily the biggest parts list of any HKS single turbo kit. It's like one of those big puzzles old people do while they wait to die.
