I've owned a 2004 Xterra for about 4 months and I love driving it! Buuuut I'm having some problems.
I heard knocking under the hood one day and the check engine begin flashing. I towed it to the dealership to see whats up. They told me the supercharger should probably be replaced, but it just be the knock sensor.
They also recommend getting the timing belt and water pump replaced. Its at 130k miles. These repairs will be more than half the cars value!!! The supercharger is 2600 alone bucks! But the knock sensor is more reasonable. (around 1000 for parts and labor...).
Anyway, my first question is if anyone has had this issue before and what did you do?
Second Question: The dealership said Nissan posted a bulletin for this model saying knocking in the supercharger is for this model is normal. Anyone know what this is about. The check engine light is flashing at me. Will this happen for this bulletin they are talking about?
