Glad I have not boosted yet

You don't have to be afraid of boost, you just have to do it right. I've successfully added FI to a Mustang GT I used to own, and a couple years ago I installed a supercharger kit on my BMW. The only secret is not being in a hurry to do it. It's important to wait for a reputable company to PROPERLY design and build a kit, and frankly, I let others test them out for a couple years to make sure they are reliable. It's also important to be prudent and not push the engine past reasonable boost levels. I ran 8lbs on my 9:1 compression Mustang, and I currently run 6.5 lbs on my 10.5:1 BMW. I know the G37 motor is 11:1 so I'd only be comfortable at about 5-6lbs. If someone engineers such a kit, and it goes a couple years without causing anyone catastrophic engine failure, I will gladly purchase that kit and post up another successful FI story.audtatious wrote:Fresh carnage. I guess I don't worry as much. The life of the motor has more to do with the way the car is driven ... how often is it in boost and at what pressure. I have about 30K+ boosted miles on my DD with no issues.audtatious wrote:Pretty much. I've been kicking around the idea of getting boost but keep deciding not to as the car is my DD and I drive long distances with it more often than not. At this point I'm just going to beef up everything from a N/A perspective until I finally buy me a weekend "toy".
