supercharged sounding 240sx

hey everyone i own a 89 240sx with the ka24e. A couple of weeks ago my automatic transmission started slipping real bad in 1st gear. At the same sime it had this supercharging sound above about 2000rpm. I figured it was all transmission related.... So perfect time for a 5 speed swap. Did the swap with great success but yet i still have the supercharger sound above 2000rpm. Just so everyone knows ive searched all over the internet to find out what the problem is and i am having no luck. Also i deleted the power steering as well as the ac. There is only one belt left on the car which goes from the fan clutch which i just replaced and the alternator. All help would be greatly aprreciated.

maybee water pump?? does the sound increase with RPM's or stay constant and any idea specifically where said sound is coming from a general location would be a little easier

the sound increses with rpm and it is coming from the front of the car

did you change the waterpump ? possibly the blade contacting something but i would bet it has somethign to do with your pullys

I had this problem months ago it might just be that one belt.
when i was driving trying to find the sound, my alternator belt broke and got stuck on all my other pulleys, i replaced it and it was gone

Happened to me last month, oil in the alternator.

I believe this thread just helped me out. Because my ka24de has that same sound. So, thanks for inadvertently helping me out too!

Maybe a vacuum leak? Does it sound like its mostly around the intake manifold? How loud is it?

An easy way to test the accessories would be to remove the one belt you have and go for a VERY quick blast down the road making sure to keep an eye on the temp gauge. If the sound is gone then you can narrow it down to the Alt. or water pump more than likely. Good luck.
