i got the pic off of jspec.com

i guess it's from some pimp's car at the 2k2 Tokyo Auto Salon.

How much power/torque *could* this thing make? What about compared to a ca18det? Can the wizards at After Dark do something like this?

I'm new here, and was also wondering if there is a thread comparing and contrasting the ca18det vs. the sr20det (i haven't found it yet)?

I've decided to get the ca18, regardless, but I love knowing things that i don't know, if that makes sense.

thanks for the help, in advance.

I just realized it wouldn't be a "supercharged ca18det", because then it would have a turbo, and a supercharger. Kinda like that MR2 in last years Sport Compact Car "ultimate street car challenge". sorry for the confusion

I beleive it's a C's or a Blitz supercharger(same company makes it for Toyota) It's not that impressive, like 230-250hp or something like that. The last Option I saw it in they put Nitrous on it. I would be a good drift or autoxer setup with the snappy blower but a mildly boosted CA18DET would eat it.

what would have to be done to a stock ca18det to get it in the 230-250 rwhp range? how much would it cost, additionally?

I am primarily interested in drifting, matter o' factly, so 230-250 is the range I was wanting to be in anyway, so I can spend more $$$ on suspension goodies.

If the engine was in good shape, Throw on an S14 turbo, full exhuast, air filter, FMIC, better fuel pump and bump the pressure up a little, a Apex SFAC could tune it well enough and set the boost about 15-16lbs, insert key and enjoy.

Looks similar to the eaton used on an SLK...... it's not, but uses a similar clutched pulley....... Funny thing about the picture tho...... It's currently a CA18DE with a massive intake restriction :D!!! There's no belt driving the charger:rolleyes (Maybe I'm wrong.... it just kinda looks that way)

It's painted like a cheeta, spots and all, and it's a converted NA model silvia with an aftermarket blower. It's fun but not very fast.

I hate that frickin' car. The only reason they built it was to be "different". They have the damn thing on bags (or whatever they're called) and bling-bling wheels. It's also painted like a Cheetah. What a disgrace to the ca18det:p

I would imagine it makes about 140-150 to the wheels.

No I beleive it is around 230-250, still for all the work they did that's pathetic.

Oh really, I was just guessing, based on 5-7 psi I figured somewhere in the realm of 150, but I didn't look all that closely. : )

I dynoed 150 with a CA18DE. It's a fun idea but this car just doesn't have anything for all that stuff they did to it, a Y-plate Air Force dependent kid in an auto skyline running base gas could probably beat it. I got my info from Option magazines

Of course to the ground silly, only people who don't race care about fly hp. I only quote business end (RWH) figures. You should have seen the guys at the shop as they back out a 300hp RX7 so I can pull in the NA rustbucket, ha ha, they thought I was joking.
