That title sounds dumber than i meant... ok i see these "kits" in scc and other mags out there that advertise 15 or 20 hp increase by hooking these box and wire sets inline with your ignition system. Something about you get a "bigger spark" with "more complete combustion". Sounds like a resonable deal, but im skeptical which is good when it comes to this crap. So tell me if it isnt crap, how does a bigger spark give you more power with out shorting something out or damaging the engine in some way? and if it is a good thing whos got the good ones? thanx in advance

check otu HKS' DL1 and DL2 ignition "amplifiers"...same thing, but a reputable company. I like nology wires and coil(I have them), only wires and coil I've felt a difference from.-chet

SWEET just the answer i needed. Will i have to change plugs out more often? also i looked at the site and these things are pricey. I have seen similar types of boxes on junked turbo cars and am wondering if could maybe adapt that to my 240's ignition?

I've always been suspect of the "amplifier" wires. AS I'm running an NA engine its important that squeeze all I can from everything... but I am torn between logic and hype. On one hand do I spend the 150-200 bucks for a special set of wires/coil when my plugs already burn on the lean side? 15 HP would be well worth the money. Would running suck a hot spark allow me to run a more optimal timing on the crappy 91 octaine we have here?questions. questions. questions.

i looked up nology's site and talked to a few friends. They all like it but your gonna spend closer to 300 for a coil and wires. It says that it will give better accelleration, increases and smoothes out powerband in the top end. HKS has a system that claims to do the same thing on the lower rpm range as well. the only difference i see is that the "amplifier" HKS sells by its self is twice the price of the whole nology set. I dont know if i should get it either but it will be easy to install...

As to your question red, the hks system says it is optimal for n/a applications, as it has a longer spark duration or something to that effect. I wish i'd known about it when i had my n/a 240 last year. sniff...

I'll probably wait until after the S-AFC to iron out my fuel problems first. I have too much cam and headwork for the stock ECU and I'm too lean to begin with.

hehe, you spend the money first and let me know....

russ has the HKS system, I have the nology wires and coil...honestly, they really do the same thing, more spark in a capacitive discharge style. If you want adjustable ignition abilities, check out jacobs, MSD, etc...

But for my purposes(and most everyones) a mild upgrade to the stock system is plenty sufficient to help things out without breaking the bank.-chet
