Well everyone, there's no saying I don't love my old Q now. I'm in it for the long haul.
I have just put a total of $3837.28 into maintenance and repair. Should hold me over for a little bit. New brake pads and rotors all around, new driver's side front caliper, brake fluid flush, diff flush, total under plenum job and hose replacement, OEM plugs, valve cover gaskets, and a new speed sensor. RIght now she's at a little over 105k (give or take a couple dozen miles when the speed sensor wasn't giving a readout). Goal is to keep her for another 100k or 5 years, whichever comes first.
I was lucky enough to have found a shop within half an hour of my house whose owner also owns 2 G50s. It's the only way I would have gone through with this. I should have taken the advice I got from the first week I was on this forum and taken it to Upton Foreign Motors. Dana was even cool enough to give me the plastic engine cover from his '92 after mine shattered as he removed it.
Way more power from 0, no more burning oil smell or drips on my driveway, much smoother braking - I'm a happy camper. Steering is still stiff, though. I can't remember the name of that module the converts the signal and sends it to the steering computer but it's probably that thing. I wasn't even planning on doing the speed sensor but it finally threw a code and turned the CEL on. Next plans for it are adding transmission cooler and taking care of the rust spots that have just started eating through the paint near the rear wheel wells after at least the last 13 years up here in MA.
Heath - the opposite of what you guess happened. I ordered too much stuff. Now I've got a few leftover parts that I can't return since Dana tossed all the bags and orderinfinitiparts requires returns to be in their original packaging. I'll take a few shots and see what I can get in the for sale section soon. And I'll take a few under hood shots to prove my madness to you guys, but right now it's exceptionally gloomy out and will be for the next few days.
