Just curious, how many thousands of miles have you been performing this experiment?mfn1194 wrote:If I put in 93 or 87 I cannot tell the difference. Maybe there could be tenths of second, but nothing I can tell in daily driving.

You'll have to be more specific on which model/year you're referring too. The manual for my 05 coupe has premium as the required fuel.mfn1194 wrote:The Manual says you can use 87.
They built the car, I trust them.
I doubt they would allow you to use fuel the could "ruin" the engine.
The day someone wants to race me for money, maybe I'll use Premium.
Otherwise I get by just fine for daily driving with 87, no pings , no problems. :-)
If mine would run on 87 octane without pinging and felt no difference in HP, I would do it! I'm jealousmfn1194 wrote:
It's a 2003 G35. Manual says use min. of 87 octane.
the car does not ping, even going up hill under heavy acceleration.
car runs great with 57K miles. I'm keeping it to 100K. I have little doubt it will easily last to 100K miles. Will it last to 200K miles ? i don't know, but it wont be my problem
Probably a change in compression ratio and power output too.joe603 wrote:It seems that there was a change from 03 to 04 sedans...
