super low idle

Alrighty, so my buddy just bought a s13 SOHC coupe. It idles at 400 rpm. When I disconnect the TPS and check the idle, it's at 750 on an automatic. When the TPS goes back on, the idle is at 400. Any ideas on what the problem is? It's bugging the hell out of my buddy as when he drives, the idle is so low that he swears to god it'll just die on him.

first check your tps adjustment should be about .5 volts with the car warmed up engine off.

also check the base timing with the tps unplugged

How would I go about testing the TPS adjustment voltage? I'll have a look at the timing and get that base timing found out too.

try a search in nissan articals I believe there is a procedure in there to do both timing and tps adjustment.

Nah sorry, can't as I'm still stuck without a muffler. I'm waiting for my dad to leave his pickup for a few hours so I can pick up my friends but he's been busy with work so no truck for me. IE my butt is stuck at my buddy's place doing his 3S-GTE swap into his MR2.
