I might be buying a 91' 240sx SE hatchback with Super HICAS. I'm excited because I know it has VLSD, but the Hicas seems like it would be a bad thing for drifting. Can you just pull a fuse to disable it or no? How much weight does the hicas add to the car? Also, why aren't the KYB AGX struts compatible with Hicas equipped 240's? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies people! So much help! I guess I'll try a different 240sx forum.

Yes, it is a steering system that turns the rear wheels a very small amount. I read less than 1 degree. At low speeds it doesn't turn the rear wheels. At medium speeds it turns the rear wheels out of phase, and then in phase with the front wheels. At high speeds it turns the rear wheels in phase with the front. It doesn't seem like something I'd want. It makes the car less predictable. I just want to know how to disable it if I buy the 240sx this weekend.

240sx's were available with hicas from 91'-93' as an option on the SE models. The package also came with ABS and VLSD.

Well his goes probably about 35, but that's real fast on a Ped. As fast as you'd ever want. I have an X-ped that goes probably about 28, and that's still damn fast.
