This is a very informative answer to yours and anybodies question on this issue. In fact I should be a moderator for this answer. "If an abnormality occurs in the system, the SUPER HICAS function will stop but the ordinary 2-wheel steering will operate normally." This is taken from the 1992 owners manual. In addition... Susper Hicas SystemThe SUPER HICAS (High Capacity Active Controlled Suspension) is an advanced, electronically controlled 4-wheel steering system. The angle of the rear wheels are designed to turn momentarily in the opposite direction and then change to the same direction as the front wheels. At low speeds, the rear wheels will not and the system functions as a 2-wheel system. If an abnormality occurs in the system, the Super Hicas function is blah, blah, blah. In other words, just disconnect some wires or linkage to the Hicas and your car will be a 2-drive system. Why you would want to disable such a fun system is beyond me.
