can i run the stock S13 bov open and not recurculated? anyone try this? if so is it loud? also if i do would i treat it the same as an aftermarket bov as far as the settings on the SAFC dec air settings?thanks help me out it's my 21th birthday today...dude!!

Also can some one point out where they tee off the wastegate on, also where they tee the bov i have a feeling of where they should go i just want to be 100%.

yes you can run atmospherically vented. it will degrade your gas mileage and driveability. dec air settings are mainly for running open-air (atmospherically vented) bov so you just want to set it up and it should work. there's a thread regarding setting up dec air. just run a search for dec air in the KA-T forum and it should come up if you're not sure how to set it up.

the BOV will be run from any line after the throttle body. the wastegate can be run from just about anywhere. most people run it from the nipple on the compressor housing.

An atmospheric blow off valve on a MAF sensor car is going to cause the car to run rich when it vents as the MAF has already metered the incoming air and adjusted fuel for that. When you vent you are releasing that air but the fuel stays the same so you are choking out the engine. Over an extended period of time it can lead to a buildup of carbon and can cause hesitation issues or even a loss of compression.

I recommend against it.

I suspect the SAFC is going to lean out the fuel when you let off the throttle and that is fine for WOT runs but for normal driving, if the BOV doesn't vent you're keeping all that air and you're not adding fuel which is a lean situation, leads to detonation...and possibly kaboom.

Once again I recommend against it. Just recirculate it.

Is the stock s13 sr bov a bypass type bov? Meaning, is it open when there's vacuum? If it is, then it MUST be recirculated.

Wouldn't carbon buildup lead to a RISE in compression? OR are you referring to ring washout from too much frool?

I was thinking more along the lines of valves not seating properly due to the buildup and thus causing a compression loss... But I don't know 100% which way it affects it...only seen bad carbon buildup on a 300zx when cylinder #5 wasn't igniting and his compression went down in that cylinder.
