Post

Greetings all. Been lurking for a little bit and I thought I would join up. I hope to broaden my knowledge of Nissan cars and the performance end of things as well I have some tech questions. Here's one to start.

I'm looking to upgrade the turbo on my 83 Nissan. It's a 2.0l with upgraded exhaust, fuel system and intake. My current turbo is a Trust/Greddy td07s-25g and I'm looking to get something with comparable power output but with less lag. Any help would be great and thanks in advance. Nice place you got here. Lots of space.

Thanks everyone. It's got a couple goodies to go with the looks as well. Here's the short list.Tomei forged crank, rods and pistons. Bored to a 2.1HKS Dragger exhaust and HKS exhaust manifoldBig honkin turbo with an HKS 55mm divorced wastegateHKS SSQ BOVGreddy Rebic fuel controller with a couple extra injectorsAnd some flash stuff like a racing seat (Bride Brix), steering wheel, pedals, shift knob and an assload of gauges. I quite like it myself.

Awesome old school Skyline you've got there!

Welcome to NICO!

For something with less lag check into some of the larger GT series ball bearing turbos.

Whoa, DR30.

Prepare to have a fan club, lol. People here are going to be on that car like Kirstie Alley on an Italian BMT.

Wanna come down to VA this Fall and join our JDM Historics race?

Anyway, AWESOME car.

What does a really nice 81 DR30 RS-X go for in Canada? That's old enough to bring to the states and legally register.....

That car is sexy. I want to go oldschool after I get my S14 compeleted (which will be a while).

I was thinking S12 200sx, but I would LOVE to have that DR30!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I bought the car from a local guy last year and it's put away for the winter. (damn snow ) It was dynoed last year at 278hp at the tires with boost set at 16psi. With the current mods it is capable of a lot more power and is only held back by the stock MAF sensor, which puts about a 300hp cap on things. I plan to have the ECU remapped to run a Z32 MAF which will let me up the boost to over 20psi. After chatting with some friendly Australians I learned 20psi and a set cams coupled with the mods I already have will be good for about 450hp, which could put my car into the 11 or 12 second range.

I already have a box of goodies waiting to be installed like an MSD 6al system, larger intercooler, and another Walbro fuel pump to go with the one on the car already. I can't wait until the snow melts, I've been driving everyone I know crazy babbling about this car.

Sure thing. I'll have to check with customs and see if there will be any problems with crossing the border. Oh and the only other R30 I ever seen offered for sale by an importer was going for 12k with similar modifications as mine. (I guess I'm just a lucky bastard, I paid less than 4k for mine )
