Some of you guys mentioned that cleaning the rails might do the trick, but I'm thinking that since I'm buying so many parts from the salvage yard maybe picking up a sunroof motor might not be a bad idea, package deal price.

Just wondering what year sunroof motor will work for my 1991?

Sounds more like the switch than the motor,if it's moving at all.Did you check any fuses or relays?

If its going "errrr errrr" like the motor is making an attempt, I think the motor is weak.

Rex - thanks for the links!

RAQ45t - I did check the fuses and relays, but I'll have to check again to be 100% certain.

Jesda - I can hear the motor working, but the roof doesn't slide. It did when I first time I tried it when I bought the car, but never after that. I needed to push it back in place that time.

jimmys G50 - I can hear the motor. The sunroof tilts.

I replaced the switch panel trim piece and it still does the same thing. Here is what I replaced:

If it will slide with a little help, you motor's clutch may be slipping... check this out!

i talked to a previous G50 owner and he said that his used to do the same thing when it was cold. he also said that there is a belt opens the sunroof and over time it gets stretched out, and this was probably the culprit. i dont know how much of that is true, though.

Plastic coated steel cables. Lack of cleaning and lubing rails, motor clutch slipping or worse a broken cable on one or both sides.
