I am replacing the sunroof seal in my 03 Y34 and I am having a really hard time. I asked the senior tech at the infiniti dealer if there were any special tools I needed or tips he had, he said no "It's pretty straight forward". What he failed to mention is that the OEM seal is BONDED to the glass!. The part of the seal that tucks in between the metal frame and glass is completely bonded and stuck in there. When attempting to remove the old seal, it separated in two. This is a complete nightmare, I cant even install the new seal in because there is so much rubber stuck in between the glass. I have a pick set and was able to pull some of it out but this is going to take me a year to do and I need to put the roof back on my car! s*** Pittsburgh weather it rains everyday.
I was going to gently heat the edges of the glass with propane torch to loosen some of it up. I have never dealt with anything like this just to replace a stupid seal. I even took the glass panel to a local auto glass shop and they were scratching their heads. I NEED SOME HELP!! Thanks.
