Sunroof/roof noise

Recently I have been noticing some sort of creeking or flexing sound coming from my sunroof, roof area. I cannot isolate exactly where the noise is coming from and have not yet tried to remove the headliner.

The noise occurs either while hitting any bump in the road and I can also cause the noise if I let off or snap close the throttle. I have held my hand on the sunroof to see if I can stop the noise, no luck there and it doesn't seem like it is the sunroof itself making the noise. I've also hit and held on to other parts like the sunglass holder and around that area and still can't stop the noise.

I have searched and can't come up with much , except for the sunroof motor maybe being loose.

Anyone have any ideas? I know its a shot in the dark trying to figure out noise problems over the internet but figured I would give it a try.

my 2010 had the same problem the day I bought it. it was coming from the headliner, just to the left of the sunroof. if i press against it, it makes that creeking sound, sounds kinda like tape ripping apart. the dealer fixed this by taking the headliner apart and putting some sort of padding or insulating there. since then, then noise hasn't come back.

I've had some squeaks at times from the sunroof cover if it's not closed all the way.

Thanks for the post on some things to check on..

I can't get the problem to stop by pressing on the headliner, also mine makes the noise with the cover open or closed and the sunroof open or closed..

I'm guessing I'm down to the point I'll just have to lower the headliner.

I'll post back once I figure it out.. If I figure it out
