My sunroof will open but wont close. One shop quoted me $200 labor to change the motor. Where is the best place to purchase the motor? Anyone recommend a shop in Los Angeles? I talked to Jerry at all import but hes 120 miles away.

Sounds like a nice cruise to me for competent help. I drove 165 to Portland for a Senior Infiniti Tech when I needed one.

Look for a thread about adjusting the clutch, I believe by Q45tech.

A new motor form http://www.infinitipartsusa.com would be best as who knows how much clutch material it has left?

Motors rarely fail just the clutch starts slipping and needs adjustment.

However there is a cause for the slipping and that is higher friction resistance in the channels.............lack of lubrication and dirt build up.

I find it strange that the roof will open, but not close, and require the motor to be replaced.

I vote for sunroof clutch adjustment, and a good clean of the rails.

Does the roof close if you give it a little assistance to start moving?

Mine does the same thing. And when I try to tilt it, only one side tilts up making it look lean. Seems like something binding in the mechanism. I believe the whole headliner has to be taken down to get to it. Too much work for me and the dealer charges like 8 hrs of labour.
