Sunroof Question

Ok, I'm new here. Maybe one of you can help with this question. I have removed the sunroof from my '93 J30T. It would raise and lower, but wouldn't slide the sunroof back. I have since dismantled everything I can think of, but now is where the fun happens. If you use the manual crank it will move the mechanism back just fine....but if you try to close it....it just cranks the cable out the side of the rail. Are my cables bad....or is it my motor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The sunroof motor was a weak point on the J's. I would hazard a guess it is the motor.

Are your tracks straight? The tracks where prone to warpage with age.
