The sunroof in my car has had very little use. Over the past year or so it has not been sliding back as it should. The motor engages as normal but only jars the roof and then labors. I have the mini manual which is not much help with trouble shooting and is not very clear on disassembly either. I have found this is the best source for info. If I get out and press down at the back of the roof when I hit the switch, it slides back normally. Because the motor is engaging, I'm inclinded to think it is not a micro switch problem. If someone has has tips on removal or experience with this problem your input in appreciated.

That's a can of worms! Do a search..there are a couple really good threads in which the removal procedure is detailed. You really don't want to remove, though, unless it breaks. There are methods to clean and lube the rails and to lube the flexible jack-screw.

This is a MAJOR can of worms. There are some threads where someone replaced the whole deal, took an entire weekend with two guys and the process at the very least sounded intimidating. Scared me enough to have the dealer do it. 7.5 hours for an experienced tech to replace the entire assembly. I supplied the entire roof and rail assbly. from a salvaged car of the same color. My very strong suggestion....shut the darn thing, use the tilt function for some fresh air, at least untill you finish investing in all the other mechanical things that need to be done to make the car last. It's also a very dirty job, lots of it has to be done from inside the car and all the grease and dirt and crud from the rails falls down in the interior no matter how carefully it's done. Those of us who were taking on water due to leakage were forced into the fix, I would investigate seriously the above comments regarding adusting, lubing etc. if it is only a binding problem.

Your roof suffers the Q manual boost every owner must give as one notices a stall during open or close cycles. Failure to help with a manual boost can result in further reduction of sunroof cycle completion effectiveness and or wear to the components that create movement within those particular parts. A proper push works at the proper time!!:)
