I remember seeing a topic on here about something similar but cant seem to find it

I believe the sunroof is supposed to open up all the way but for some reason it doesnt...it closes properly and tilts properly but wont open all the way back, i can still push the sunshade back a few more inches

can someone with a sunroof please confirm that it does in fact go all the way back

ps sorry about the quality of pics (camera phone)

The first day i believe it did open back fully, and to open it i used to hold the slide open button for a few seconds until it opened but then i read the posts in the other thread that said it would mess it up so i stopped, and i also tried to follow the steps to reset the sunroof but they don't work

I would bet it is working properly. My Explorer's only opened about that far.

Hi Harry... I can't tell you if it's supposed to open all the way or not because mine has "never" opened more than 3/4 of the way. When mine is fully opened it looks the same as your roof in the photos you posted.

Like you I also tried the "reset" steps listed in the Rogues FAQ section under moonroof problems (steps copy & pasted below). I experienced the same thing as you... the steps do not work! Another member in the other thread also reported the steps do not work. When I get to step 3, I can hold the switch 4 seconds, 14 seconds or 40 seconds and nothing happens... the sun roof NEVER closes automatically as the steps imply. That said... the roof seems to operate okay... opening and closing evenly and tightly, with no mechanical problems (other than the fact in doesn't open all the way).

I've had factory installed sunroofs in all my cars since 1980 and everyone of them opened fully... until this one in the Rogue. I can't help but think its simply a poor design. ____________________________________________________________INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE If the sunroof does not close or open automatically, use the following procedure to return sunroof operation to normal.

1. Close the sunroof if it is not in the closed position. It may be necessary to repeatedly push the switch to close the sunroof. 2. Press and hold the TILT UP switch the sunroof will tilt up. Release the button. 3. Press and hold the TILT UP switch again. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. After 4 seconds of depressing, the sunroof will full close. 4. Initializing procedure is complete. Confirm proper operation of the sunroof (slide open, slide close, tilt up,tilt down.) ____________________________________________________________

The procedure I listed is straight out of the Nissan Rogue Factory Service Manual. I have never been able to verify it as I do not have a sunroof.

Hi philipa...Yes sir. I actually have a copy of the service manual and your steps in the FAQ are 100% correct. Just wanted to let others know they're not going crazy if they try the procedure and find the steps do not work as outlined.

Just FYI: I Googled -sunroof initialization Nissan- and found a multitude of people (from Nissan Pathfinders to Q45 Infinitys) also reporting they correctly followed the initialization steps but the sun/moonroof does not react as suggested by the steps in the manual. HOWEVER... several users went on to report all they had to do was disconnect the car battery for a minute or two, then after reconnecting the battery they followed the sunroof initialization steps and it performed all the sequences as outlined in the manual. Maybe that’s the key!

Now all we have to determine if any members here have a Rogue (with a factory installed moon/sun roof) that actually opens all the way (glass fully retracts)

The reason I emphasize "factory installed" sunroof is because the dealership where I purchased my Rogue had both factory and after market sunroofs in the Rogues on the lot. The aftermarket version was really sweet but I opted for the factory version because I once had a aftermarket sunroof that leaked I also chose the factory version because the sticker price for the factory sunroof was only $950 whereas the aftermarket version was $1100. Now I'm second guessing my decision and thinking for the extra $150 I should have gone with the TVS 935 Sunroof

Here’s a link to see the aftermarket TVS 935 in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYMVTTQP_Ko:oy:

Yeah, mine is only 3/4 of the way too. My Honda Accord from high school only opened up about 3/4 of the way so it doesn't bother me. At least it slides back unlike my Xterra which had a pop up sun roof.

Anyone tried with the Canadian manual? Because the reset is not the same, and I did it with both, US and Canadian model, but it look like nothing is reset and my sunroff is always 3-4" outside.

Probably I do something wrong, but I'm not sure.

Any idea?

Thanks

Just went outside and checked my Sunroof and same thing. It only opens about 3/4 of the way open. Guess from all the posts with same problem it looks like that is the way it is.
