Sunroof problem

I have a 1993 infiniti j30 and my sunroof doesn't work. It will tilt up, but not tilt closed or open or close the regular way. Iv tried resoldering the wires, and also http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=215858 and neither works. When trying to open or close it the motor doesn't make any sounds.

Maybe the switch is flaky ?

The motor is going, but the infiniti sunroofs are a general pain. I am doing my second rebuild in the next few weeks. Generally, the heat causes the rail guides to distort, which makes the motor work too hard, which then burns it out. I have seriously considered making mylar rail guides for the thing this time, but it may be more trouble than it is worth.

Totally agree! Its worse in northern climates with the expansion and contraction of hot and freezing temperatures.

Another thing I am considering is going with a graphite grease instead of white litium. Maybe even using Amsoil 110 weight.

I've never tried graphite grease only the white lithium stuff. Let us know how you make out.

How many hours / days is the rebuild of the sunroof. I know you have to remove seats and all...where do you put the headliner?
