Sunroof opening issue

Hello forum,

I'm a newb here, just picked up an '01 i30 last week. I searched the forums first before posting but did not see any similar issues posted. My issue:

When opening or closing the roof, it moves approx 3" at a time. I release the switch and press again and it moves another 3". It will open fully, and tilt but only in these small increments.

Also another funny thing about it is both the slide and the tilt switches do the exact same thing, ie: tilt switch will both slide open and close and tilt. Slide switch will both tilt and slide open and close.

I have been in plenty of these cars and know this is not properly functioning, but I have no idea where to start diagnosing the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Close the sunroof completely. Then Hold the switch in like you are going to close it for about 10 seconds. See fi that helps.

Thanks for the info, I tried that and it just tilted the roof open 1 notch.

Try it the other way. Open it and hold the switch in for over 10 seconds
