Recently, the sunroof in my 2001 SE pauses when opening and closing. Eventually, if you hit the button enough, it will fully open or close.

Figured it can’t be the fuse since it’s getting power. Anyone else have/fix this?

Just needs to be reset, try this:

Try this:

INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
If the sunroof does not close or open automatically, use the following procedure to return sunroof operation to normal.

1. Close the sunroof if it is not in the closed position. It may be necessary to repeatedly push the switch to close the sunroof.
2. Press and hold the TILT UP switch the sunroof will tilt up. Release the button.
3. Press and hold the TILT UP switch again. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. After 4 seconds of depressing, the sunroof will full close.
4. Initializing procedure is complete. Confirm proper operation of the sunroof (slide open, slide close, tilt up,tilt down.)

^^ what he said. I had a similar issue on my QX4 couple of months ago. The reset procedure fixed it.

Also - wipe down the tracks to get the old grease & dirt out, then re-grease. I prefer white lithium grease.

I have had the same issue a few times since 2002. It is random, not battery related. I didn't search for procedures just put key in and take it out and try opening and closing it. At some point it starts working normally. I will write down the steps and keep it in glove box.

Tried all the button-pushing in a certain order solutions to no avail. Found this on a Maxima forum and it worked!

1. Close your sunroof all the way.
2. Turn off your car.
3. Disconnect your battery.
4. Turn on your lights, and step on your brakes. Do it like 10 times. (You are basically draining the system.)
5. Hook up your battery.
6. Tilt your sunroof up, then back down.
7. Pull back on the slide lever. It should be fixed.
