Yesterday, I noticed that the sunroof stopped working—thankfully, it got stuck in the closed position  . Pressing the switch doesn’t open it, and I already checked to make sure the window lock wasn’t activated. What should I check first: the fuses or the motor/mechanism?

There's no separate fuse for the sunroof, just a fusible link which also supplies the driver's seat. So if the seat works, the problem isn't a fuse. Could be the motor, could be the switch, could be a power or ground interruption in the roof harness connections. You need to pull down the roof console and access the roof motor connector. In the view below, the connector layout is the roof harness side (not the motor) and it's the side where the wires enter. Putting a test lamp across 1~6 should light the lamp, if it does then power is good. Use a voltmeter to check pins 5 and 10, both should show a voltage (could be 5V or 12V) when the switch is unused. If there's no voltage then the motor controller is dead. Pin 5 should go to 0V when you work the switch to "open", pin 10 should go to 0V with "close". If so, the switch works and the motor is shot. If all that checks okay, your roof is mechanically jammed (could just be a gasket that's too stuck for the motor to budge) or the motor is shot.
