I've been doing searches and it's difficult to get the terms together to get good enough results thus far...

Here's the deal. My sunroof on my 2007 M35 opens, tilts, and closes fine... It's just that when it closes the passenger side does not "align" securely with the roof of the car. What I mean is, if I'm sitting in the car and take my hand and push up on the sunroof itself on the passenger side, it moves a good 1/4" up - like where it is supposed to be. On the driver's side it's all stiff and securely in place.

I noticed this first when I was closed the driver's side door and the sunroof would "hop"... Sigh....

I cannot think of any particular "event" to tie this to. The issue just "showed up".

I don't know where to start.... Bumper to Bumper Warranty just ran out in December '11 and I have about 55K on her. I'm handy with tools, but need a little direction.

Any help is appreciated!

If you look at both sides of the sunroof from inside the vehicle, you will see a plastic trim piece on each side. Pull these off to expose two 10mm bolts with #2 Phillips heads (on each side). These are what holds the glass panel to the sunroof pan and slide assembly. You can check for tightness, and adjust as neccessary. Hope this helps.

I had this condition on a Maxima and my advise to you is what ever you do "DO NOT" slide sunroof back into body of car unless you are absolutely sure you know it will go back into a closed position or you could end up in a worse situation. SmoovC's advise is worth a shot but if you find nothing loose get it checked out as you could do more damage by moving the sunroof back in to the body if the tracking is screwed up. Good Luck!! :mike

Yeah, it was those screws that SmoovC mentioned. one was loose. Just needed to be tightened.

Thanks for the help!

Good news!! Make sure you keep the track rails lubed and hinges. Not sure what Infiniti uses (white grease??) Make sure you use all functions (up/down;full open) as it's my belief that if you don't use the sunroof it will fail.

Wow! This thread was most helpfull. I noticed at highway speeds i would hear wind coming from my sunroof. So I would press against it and it would stop. I then looked at my wifes Altima and noticed her sun roof was much more flush with the top of car then mines. So I figured it would be a major job for dealership to do. Then I seen this thread and realized my sun roof over all was sagging. I followed the above instructions and noticed I was about a quarter of an inch of being low of the roof. Now no more wind noise :) Thanks for the post!!
