Hello,Down here in Florida it seems 10% Ethanol blend has become mandatory. The stuff is truly evil. Not E85 evil. But still. Owing to my Exxon/Mobil station now using this accursed corn junk, I started looking into what is available. Thankfully, there are 3 stations which sell 100 octane Sunoco 260 within 10 miles. The stuff is amazing. If all it does is clean things up, it is still money well spent. Perhaps psychological but the car seems to be a bit more responsive. At $7.99 a gallon it should be.

these aren't race cars. It's a total waste of money.

Race cars? No. I frakking hate ethanol which is what spurred me to try it. Our gasoline here is of a lower octane than Europe and Japan. This 100 octane is close to many European premiums which are often 99 octane or so in U.S standards.

Is it leaded? If so, are there cat concerns?

Hello,Sunoco 260 is unleaded and does not interfere with emissions. It is the highest octane unleaded that is street legal.Cheers,ML

Still a waste of money though, our cars are programmed for US premium fuel. Throwing extra octane will not make a bit of difference without advancing timing, adding forced induction, etc. Early Nissan fuel injectors were subject to corrosion by the increased ethanol content of fuel but since that has since been corrected in the mid-90's.

I have to admit though, I always take an extra sniff when a car with race fuel drives by. Love that smell! I run it in my Z32 whenever I can.

Hello,I am aware. I truly am. These days I am driving around 75 miles a week on the M so the price difference is not such an issue. Furthermore, it has no corn blend which I why I even did it in the first place. Totally witcha that without tuning, there are no gains. However, I do wonder if there are gains in regards to the quality of the Premium fuel here. I do wonder with ethanol blends especially if it is below optimal octane.

Cheers,ML

With the quality of gasoline being what it is today, non-ethanol gas of sufficient or better octane is a blessing. And yes, the ECU via the KS will compensate for it and allow full ignition advance to run.
