I didn't see any response to your quarry. I have a 92 that did the same thing. I took the whole assembly rack out of the car, not a one man job, and found the cables that the roof is attached to had lost it end pieces which keep the roof attached. The roof will cycle it just won't bring the roof with it because the end pieces are gone. Some of the newer Q's have "Repair Kits" for them. Mine of course does not. I'll go through my notes to try and find a part number for you if you still need it.

Stress failures from not keeping rails clean and lubricated, usual solution is brand new assembly, as junk yard cars will be in same situation. At least 10 years old.

Cloth and Spray silicone lub on rails and clean out all the trash that gets blow into headliner. Pretty much sunroofs are all similar in all makes and models..........steel cables move the system driven by motors.

I thought you were suppose to use white lithium grease to lightly coat the rails, after having used a cloth to wipe the old lube/dirt away? silicone spray instead of lithium grease?

Lithium works great, as would a heavy silicon lubricant.

Yeah lithium works good becaues it doesnt stink like multi-purpose grease... I used multpurpose grease and my car stunk for a litlte while.

Anyway, have others gotten the repair kits for later Qs or J's to work on the old Qs.....
