:oface I must come clean and confess, I've been cheating on my Nissan brethren. The J30 has been replaced and booted out of its cozy spot in the garage. In it's place is a 2003 Lancer Evo. Don't hate.

don't feel bad Fred, I don't even have a car :( And to make it even better, I am looking at buying a car that is 8-12 years old.Even better is the fact that I've been looking for months and haven't got one yet.

Moral: You're in good shape, don't worry about it.:D

chris, congrats on the new car, but i think the J is still more worthy for the garage than the lanevo. the J has been your companion for a long time, is older and deserves more respect (in other words deserves the garage spot) :)

Guys and gals... this Evo is SWEEEET. If I did not have a less than year old Maxima, I would seriously be considering one of these. This is the car that can take me away from Nissan. Seriously. I can go on and on about it. Chris, just let me know when you need to me come over to clean up the happy mess I made on the dashboard. :oface

Holy shizzo! How much did you score it for Chris? I see an Evo/WRX matchup REAL soon! I'll have to tell CZ to unplug his exhaust and crank up the wick a bit. Hehe...

Congrats man!

We're selling the I30 and my girl gets the J30 so it's definately stayin in the family. Sam Swope, the local mitsu dealer, is selling them at MSRP. I bought the only one they had in my part of town. It's nice and blue. I can't take it over 5000 rpm until it's broke in w/600 miles. It's a total teaser having to let off at 5g. I haven't raced my friends Z06 yet..he just broke his in recently w/1000 miles the other day. He'll kill me with the Z06 for sure but I could probably get him at the launch. AWD rules. It's just nice to finally have a fast car and it's warrantied. I'll take pics shortly just haven't had time. Picked it up Saturday and drove it around a bit then parked it. Then drove a little today, but because of it being Easter and a hail storm coming through it's back in the garage.

Yeah, that 600mi break in is a beotch! I contemplated many times taking a long road trip (varying speeds of course!) to get the break in mileage over.

What sold you on the Evo if I may ask? 30k buys a lot of car and there are plenty of other cars out there to be had. I look to anticipation to seeing this beast in real person. Did you get the color "Blue By You?"

Very sweet Chris. I wonder if you got the same EVO that was at the New Car Show cause they had one out there. Very nice pick of cars.

It was the one at the New Car Show.

Near everything about the car sold me on it. I think it's a lot of car for the price. AWD, monster Brembo brakes, enkei wheels, yokohama tires, super handling, fast, a bit on the rarity car side, 4 doors, recaro racing seats and it's all warrantied. With just the addition of an AFC, Evo owners are dyno'n an extra 30WHP. Apparently the Evo has a VERY rich fuel issue at high rpms. That and the turbo timer are the only things I'm interested in doing. I did get the 'blue by you'. Looks much better in person then the pics on the internet. Plus it matches the black/blue interior..which is the only color the interior comes in no matter what color car you get. I passed on all the options except for the front brake air ducts that are being installed on Tuesday. Everything else, like sunroofs, just add weight.

I am still waiting for the Impreza STi to be released to the dealers here in the US. I will be fighting to urge to sell my WRX and upgrade to the STi.

I am sure the EVO runs rich at higher RPMs because that is when you are probably running at higher sustained amounts of boost. Just make sure you don’t have any detonation issues with screwing around with your A/F ratios. The WRX has issues with running the number 3 cylinder lean. There is a common fuel rail upgrade to correct this issue.

Again, I can’t wait to see this car in person.

Yeah, the Evo runs super rich at the high end but the boost peaks at 5g with 19psi then drops off a pound or two going to red line. Thus the rich problem. Either more boost or less fuel would be the answer. Trust me I'll be carefull and let others do it first. And when I do I'll do it with the aid of an AWD dyno if I can find one.

these were courtesy of Intercool from LS. He followed me home after seeing me on the road and happened to have a digi camera with him.

...and it appears the attachment size limit is even smaller now.
