Summer tires or winter tires?

Like I said In my other thread I have good deal on continental dws 160 for each! And the summer tire are the hancook ventus v12 those are 180 each. Is the ride with the dws rough? Well are winter tire rough? Iam in NYC but I do plan on taking off my wheels when winter starts. Is it also true summer tires wear Down very fast. Much help apprciated.

It's not necessarily true that summer tires wear faster, but they tend to have a lower tread wear rating. The higher the number the longer they will last, I have the hankooks and I believe the tread wear rating is 280 for my 19s which isn't too bad.

I wouldn't think that winter tires would be rougher, it all depends on the size of the wheels. With any tire it will be a rougher ride on let say an 18inch wheel than it will be on a 16inch wheel. The winter tires might be louder because of the tread pattern, but I've never driven with winter tires so I can't say for sure.
