We've been looking into summer camps for the kids. Some of these places are awesome! Rock-climbing, canoeing, camping, archery, etc., etc., etc. I never went to summer camp as a kid . Just band camp and that was for school. Anybody have any epic camp adventures?

Come to my house we can travel to NorCal and hunt an animal named "KrimsonViper", I heard he was delicious.

In 6th grade I went on a 1 week field trip during winter break. We went to Arrowhead camp and I enjoyed it very much.I learned a lot there, and had epic snowball fights. One of my friends nearly fell into the lake when the ice broke, nearly shat my pants.

Make sure you put AZ on that list. I will take you to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Kartchner Caverns!

I want to take the kids (and me) here. I think we'd have an awesome time!

camp is AWESOME!

I went to Camp Yawgoog when I was in scouts a bunch of times. We would go for a week during the summer, it was an amazing experience!! http://www.yawgoog.org/

I think all children should do the summer camp experience. Living for a week AWAY from your parents is a BIG eye opener. Kid grow up a lot without their parents looking over every move, its a HUGE character builder.

but it HAS to be an away summer camp, no going home every day. thats cheating.

if i ever have kids, im shipping them off every summer as soon as their old enough!

Just found this. Was looking for cool places within the state to go on short weekend getaways.

http://www.pr.state.az.us/Parks/RERO/index.html

Due to budget cuts, the beautiful park where Greg and I were married last summer is closing. It's the second most popular place in the entire United States to get married (and the most beautiful IMO) and they are just shutting it down. So much for an anniversary trip back here.

In boy scouts I did all sorts of kid-approved activities, like caving, hiking, hunting, shooting guns, archery, building shelters of all kinds, kicking as$ and taking names...

lol but seriously, explorer scouts is where it's at. It costs a bit more, but it's really worth it. I wish I'd done it.

closest thing i had to a summer camp was, Sergent's Camp. It was one of those week long school trips where you're supposed to learn trust and team work with your class. Instead fights broke out over the last donut at breakfast and sickness swept the bunks like the black plague. Was fun but only thing that was cool was the ropes course.

Been to a ton of Scout Camps and camping trips, good times doing stupid stuff at night.

Then after I stopped scouts, went on lots of Christian Youth Retreats and summer camp things.

You didn't go to summer camp, you went to "special" camp.

Camp was awesome...

I learned how to light ridiculously large fires.I learned how to scare the new kids to literal tears.I smoked my first cigarette, cigar, and joint (not in the same weekend) at camp.I learned how alcoholics function while they are away from their wives (yet they are in charge of children).I learned how to play pranks on people.I learned how to blame camp pranks on the mentally handicapped scout troop.I learned that saran wrapping an entire vehicle does cause damage to it.

Rob is right, it's a character builder.
