Car: Beat up S13 hatch

Post

Hello everyone i'm somewhat new to the site so heres a little info about me. I have loved the 240sx (specifically the s13 hatch) ever since i first remember seeing one at the track when i was 14. I was forced into buyin hand me down cars for the first few years of my driving and long story short I got my S13 hatch now. right now its my ugly duckling. its a couple colors, has its battle dents, and an auto. but it only cost me $750 so im not complaining. anyways i got and s14 ka24de block the other day and just wanted some suggestions and what i should do with it. heres a couple pics of the ugly duckling

Sweet hatch man multi paint schemes are awesome they're a sign of use not babying. Take that S14 block and just build a basic motor but if this is your first time make sure you have someone who's done it before to help I tried to build mine... and it's still sittin around. I'd also go pick up the newest "Project Car" magazine from walgreens it has a 5 speed swap in it thats the bomb. Oh and welcome to the site if you get the chance go check out liquidcool's myspace pics he has lots for awesome DIYs.

Not a bad start man. You should do the manual swap first, it will make it al lot more fun to drive. I know of a junk yard that has several manual transmission'd s13's. Did you ever get the overheating issue solved?

i got the tires replaced that pic is from way back. its like all i see in that pic when i look at it ever since i noticed it. currently the overheating issue isn't completely tackled. thinking its the head gasket so going to try replacing that. hopefully that will fix the problem for now so i can still drive it while i work on the s14 ka. if not then i don't really know what else to check. any other suggestions on that would be appreciated. it overheats after 10min of driving. i have replaced the radiator with a brand new one and the thermostat as well. flush the system. and the coolant looks dirty more like oil than rust colored, and the exhaust is dripping. my plans for the car right now aren't really decided yet but im thinking i want to spend some time sidewayz.

Hay man...i have some info for ya..and you should take it......first things...find this months copy of "Project car magazine #10" it has a s13 ka24de auto to manual swapp step by step in it and a few other things ..that mag is a great tool for learining..and best of all..you dont need to be a genius to understand it.....as for the condition fo your ride...some of those dents look like they can be pushed out with an air pump and a pillow device used at a bodyshop...and next...have ya scoped out the underside? look under and all around to see if there is any hidden damage....last but not least.........drain and flush all fluids ....using a magnet on a string when ya drain the oil to see how much metal ya find in it...if there is alot...you have problems..hope this helps ..good luck.
