Since the Mods are apparently re-doing some things on the site, does anyone have any suggestions?I have a couple:
- please ban users that come on with no intent to be helpful, or just come on from other boards to post in the ring. i thought thats why we moved from 240sx.org, more control...? it seems every 2 days we have someone else starting a fight, then leaving and giving NICO a bad rep as being unfriendly.
- if we're worried about bandwidth, why not clear out our user base? by that, i mean take a look at our member list. we have 37 pages of just names, but when you look at post count, about 33 pages of them have never even had 1 post. maybe clear out those people before deleting other things.
That's all i have for now, gotta run to class! i cant be late.... again :rolleyes

all suggestions will be taken seriously. this is everybody's house. deleting users that don't post wouldn't help. there's a lot of people that come here to just browse, search and grab info. Check the logged on users every day and if you look at some they rarely if ever post. And users who never visit the site don't eat bandwith either. Heck Dauntless probably uses 10-15% of the daily bandwith himself.
as for banning, that one is a difficult decision to make. even if a few members here are 'outspoken' most of them are still really smart guys that equally love their Nissan/Infiniti vehicle, which is exactly what we want here. you would have to do something pretty bad to be kicked out of this place.but please, keep the suggestions coming in.

Actually banning someone is a big step for us..God knows it's been temtping...
But I agree with you that sometimes bad apples may spoil the bunch.
It's just such a hard and unfun thing to do, to actually ban an ISP (not just screename).
As for the lurkers I really dont mind them and even if people dont post, it's good to know that some of our info can be helpful to as many ppl as possible.

I would like to see a time line of Infiniti and Nissan products in a photo gallery explaining what changed internally and externally with the models. Education would help us to appreciate other members cars more or confirm that some really and truly are POSs (down boy, down).

A fellow might be lurking and see some comment made by a complete moron and feel the need to join up to fight the ignorance. A bash insues but said person could out live the foolishenss and become and asset. If the issue was not worthy of a volley of opinions and insults it would die rather quickly because no one would respond.

Hey, I resemble that bandwidth remark. : ) As far as the lurkers, some people register to send other members emails and what not, even if they don't post they still remain registered because it also allows them to mark read threads. Also, a lot of people register but don't feel that they have the knowledge to post yet, no reason do delete them for that. : )

This may sound WAY far-fetched.. but how about some sort of a cross referencing data base that would allow a user to look up interchangable parts.. or even information on options for particular year/model...etc...etc. For example, the VLSD is always a big question mark. Some sort of an organized source of information on which vehicles have it and what vehicles it swaps into. Also a detailed history section would be very helpful. I would just like to see a more content oriented sight that had a wealth of information available at the click of the mouse..... Not that we don't already have good info and insight.. but something more indepth.... ya know!
maybe we could have a basic info section on our home page. a section set up FAQ style that answers the millions of questions that we see over and over again.....i mean, i hate to agree with dees, but if another guys asks how to take the shift knob off.....
i would be more than willing to help compile a list of questions in an e-mail to get this done. just because these questions show up SO often, and im sure they use more bandwidth than Dauntless does.
