this weekend im swapping in a "new" motor its an E for another E nothing special but i have never done this before and need some hints or tips, (iv'e searched) my plan so far is to tape all the plugs that i disconnect and write on the tape where they go and write down on a sheet of paper everything that i've disconnected that way i dont forget anything... so if this sounds good or stupid or anyone has a better method or anything else it will be appreciated.

Sounds like a good plan, try to get yourself a helper, and download a factory service manual if you dont have one. I would label the new motor as you label the old one. Make it a little easier to go in.
