Hey everyone,

I'm trying to figure out what I should do with my old manual trans from my 03 350Z. The case is in really good shape, but despite having only 55k miles, most of the gears were done in when it ran out of oil. I ended up just buying a complete new trans from Nissan. So my question to you is: does this thing have any value? Are there any people looking for a good case in order to rebuild with different gears (like OS Giken)? Is there anyone interested in buying such a box already rebuilt with upgraded gears (is it worth my time to build it)?

If not, at least it's worth the scrap aluminum...

That's what I was thinking, and that's what I did with my Miata trans. Unbolt everything so you can sell it as "clean" aluminum.

If you'd got the space to spare and can get a OS Giken close ratio setup at discount I'd keep it for a while. Most people I know have just replaced the older '03-'04 (and the CD008 from early 2005 models) transmissions with the CD009. But if I ever had to upgrade/replace mine I'd go the OS Giken route, I really like those gear ratios. Pair that transmission with a nice final drive and you could make a great responding NA 350Z. I'm such a parts purist that if I did that I'd feel the need to ditch my Exedy clutch and get one from OS Giken, as well as new limited slip since I'd invariably want that to match too.

Wow...I just made that a really expensive upgrade to my Z. :chuckle:
