Suggestions on first mods

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

One of my friends has a 2002 Sentra GXE and wants some suggestions on where to start... any info as to where he could buy the parts would be helpful too. Thanks for any info!

I believe NISMO carries 1.8 parts, always a safe bet, especially if he's still in warranty.

Beyond that, I think aftermarket support is growing, check AEM, Injen, etc. Check their websites for vendors.

I'd say a good first mod is an intake. Why? It's simple, doesn't require much of anything, is pretty cheap, and is fun. It's a good way to get into modding cars without going crazy.

Another good idea would be shocks/springs. This is a bit more expensive and intensive, I'd suggest Koni Yellows and Eibach Sportlines, or Eibach Pro Kits if he wants something a little less aggressive (about a 1.25in drop, rather than 1.5-1.6ish, and the spring rates are a lot softer).

Exhaust wouldn't be a bad idea either. Check out BRM, I think Greg's got a 1.8 exhaust now. I love my BRM every time I hit the gas.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to save the money that he would pay for mods and get a Spec-V instead?

That requires buying a whole other car, which could be a pain.

Moreover, if this is his first modded car, and especially if it's his first car overall, the QG is probably a better place to start because it's less finicky than the QR. Basically he'd be trading one can of worms (modding) for two (modding and the Spec itself).
