I am planning to buy another car for daily commute probably around 50Km commute daily. I am looking for an efficient car, my options are Sentra , Lancer or Mazda 3. I will be probably looking for a base model since this will use for my daily commute to work.

any suggestions and opinion is highly appreciated.

I'm assuming you're buying new? I wouldn't waste the depreciation on a new car when you can buy 3 or 4 used cars that are in good shape.

I bought a 96 civic with 100k on it for $3700, and it now has 140k on it and I could probably sell it for the same price. It's reliable and efficient though, and I drive 130 miles a day, so I'll keep it.

I'd go Hyundai or Kia before picking a Sentra.

agreed.

depending on the sentra.

the last GOOD Sentra was probably the B15 2.0 SE in my opinion.

Civics...mine's an Si so it's fun..but it carries a premium to pay for a DD

I suggest a truck.

they're fun. You can run over stuff.

Honda Civic reigns in the department you're looking for I'm afraid to say. I love my 240SX but I loved the gas mileage and responsive handling that I enjoyed when I had my ED7 (90 SI)

Sentra, Lancer and a Maz3 huh? Pick whichever you find the least boring, it's a crap shoot either way.

I'd opt for a 2.3 Mazda 3.

best built out of the options.

There's no 2.3 anymore. It's 2.5 now. Assuming he's buying new

hi guys, thanks for the replies...

the initial plan is to buy a new one (base model).my wife's afraid to spend much on repairs if we will get a used one.at least for a new one, probability of repair cost will be less for first 5 years.

sentra and lancer are both 2.0L, except for the mazda 3 which is 2.5L.

i appreciate all your inputs and i will consider those.

There's also a 2.0L Mazda3.

I just bought an lifted '87 Bronco II 4x4 with WARN hubs and 32' tires and beadlock wheels for 250 bucks....

it runs great and gets about 22 mpg...and I could run my Silvia over if I so desired...

there is something awesome about a 4x4...

buy something cheap and reliable

There is too. My favorite vehicle slightly out of my price range: Mazdaspeed3.
