hey guys, i recently bought a z31 for 250$ and am in the process of fixing it up. so far ive fixed all of the lighting minus the rear side markers, headlight motors, interior lighting, horn, shined it up, etc etc so far its been a bunch of easy fixes. runs strong too. anyway the shocks are totally blown, 0 rebound, pretty much riding on the springs.

anyway i have been looking around for stuff for these cars and the options are basicaly kyb, billstein, and tokico. this will pretty much be a daily driver, since my 240 is my race car :) but i dont want it to totally suck. so here are the choices ive come up with.

just cheap out and get autozone shocks, for like 80 bucks for a set and keep the stock springs.

tokico blues for 210$ shipped for a set. try to find a good deal on some eibach prokits or somthing like that, ride with the stock springs until then.

tokico blues and tokico springs for 330 shipped. any idea about these springs? do they suck, should i just buy the shocks seperate and get different springs? or...? if anyone knows if the springs are any good i think i will go with this, otherwise just the shocks.

final option - i could get illuminas for like 400 and use the stock springs till i save up more cash. are the illuminas overkill for somthing i dont plan to autox or anything?

well anyway if any of you guys have any opinions on this please tell me. I am leaning towards the blues, but im not sure about which spring to use. any feedback would be great, thanks again

I had a Z31 I had to 227rwhp and it was a track/daily driver.

I used the old NISMO "SS" springs(doulbe factory spring rates, about .25" lower) that I got from courtesy nissan a WHILE ago, Im not sure if they're made, and the bistein HD shocks from strano parts.

Coupled with pirelli tires, I was very happy(I also had larger sway bars, thanks to motorsport auto)

also, MSA (motorsport auto) carries lots of other Z31 parts, and even now(after 3 years..) makes a polyurethane suspension bushing kit.

actually, I do. get some "shorty" wrenches and/or thin wall-sockets, it makes getting them in there easier.

I did have headers on my Z31, it took me 2 days to get them in....I ende up taking off the intake pipe amongst other things to get enough access to get the sucker off.-chet
