Got a 94 240sx and am wondering if anybody has some good recommendations for a solid set of plugs and wires. I ahve done all the reading and they all say they are the best so I though I would call on the powers that be and get some input from the people on the streets.

So what do you got?

Short Ram vs. Cold Air

Any opinions on the benefit of one versus the other?

Looking for a place to start with the upgrades. Is this and the tuneup a good basic place to start for improving the performance. Any advice welcome.

NGK wires, NGK plugs. http://www.sparkplugs.com

cold air will get cold air from outside the engine compartment. cold air is more dense, allowing more power to be made.

short ram will probably cost less.

Do you think the Iridium is worth the extra cost over platinum?

Thanks for the input.

Keep it coming 'cause I am eating it up............

platinum is fine. also, cold air intake increases the chance of water intake, so if you ever cross areas with high water, i wouldnt recomend it.

240kid.... Looking at the pics of your car it looks like you have a short ram, is that correct? Also what is the blue rod type thig on the left of the picture?

Are the performance benefits of a cai worth the risk of taking i water?

Thanks

yes, it's probably worth the risk. how often do you drive through 1 foot deep water?

Cold air. It will give you more horse power, because it is getting air from outside of the engine bay. So the air is cooler. What I'm doing is a custom job. I'm cutting a piece out of my hood and make a custom intake that runs and collects from the top of the hood. That way you get more air. You don't have to relocate your battery. The intake is alot shorter and pretty much straight down into the manifold. But that's just me.

No, he has a cold air intake. It looks like a custom job. And he has a turbo, NICE. I would recomend NGK plugs and Nology wires. And what is that blue thing? Some kind od suspension support.

You've never changed your plugs before sparkplugs.com?

Ya, wouldn't that be ironic? I'm asking how hard it is to change the plugs out in your vehicle.

There's two benefits to platinum and iridium plugs - they last longer and perform better. Changing the plugs out on my vehicle is a 8 hour job (im not exagerating either) so yes, the performance of iridium plugs is a great bonus, but I mainly put iridiums in there so I don't have to change them out every 30k miles.

So, if its easy to change out your plugs, you'll benefit from the performance - increased acceleration, accelerator response, operational stability, and lower fuel consumption. If its hard to change out your plugs, you'll benefit from the performance, and appreciate the longivity.

Yea....I pulled a plug and then replaced after checking to see if oil was on it in less than a minute.Unless he is talking about new plug wires but still isn't that a couple minute job?

chrysler cirrus - there's a manifold bolted on top of the plug cylinders with some of the bolts in the back of the engine and no room to get back there - wouldn't be so hard for a mechanic - its all in the tools

Nothing like getting a 6 inch extension, swivel socket, two inch extension, then sparkplug socket just to get at the last two plugs on either bank in that Camaro. I don't miss that chore!

At least you don't have a porshe where you have to drop the engine to change the plugs, hahahaha. I think that was the porshe...

Anyway, I've read a while back in a very lengthy thread about spark plugs that our ka engines don't like platinum, especially bosch ones.

NGK iridiums are usually the ones to go with... mmmmmmm... iridium.... I love my iridium plugs & o2 sensor I got from you guys a while back sparkplugs , they're awesome.

Ouch, that would really suck! $1500 mechanic bill just to change the plugs

I think it's a torque dampener or sumthing... works like an extra engine mount kinda.... i think... not positive, but i think it does that (using logic HAHA)

Yea, it's an engine torque dampener. I usually only see those on sr20 equipped cars (at least that's what they sell them for).
