I don't come to this forum very often, but I thought you guys would have the answer to my question. I'm attending my first drift event in 3 weeks and I need a helmet. A friend of mine said he'd let me borrow his, but I'd like to start shopping for one now.

Anybody have a suggestion for a full face SA2005 rated helmet that's affordable?

I looked on ebay, but most of them were $200+. This is out of my area of expertise, so maybe all helmets are that price. I've only been looking for a couple hours off and on.

Thx

Damn that little speed racer boi!!! lol

I was hoping for a full face. Just personal preference. Seems like the SA2000s are somewhat reasonable, but not the SA2005s and with the possibility of SA2010 coming soon, I don't want to be 2 standards behind

the 10's wont be released till late 2010 early 2011. and the 00 rating will be good till probably 2012.

if your looking for cheap, look for gforce.

i wouldnt trust my head in their helmet, but its your money.

helmets are kind of important. dont be a cheapass.

Thanks for the advice. I don't have $600 laying around for one of the helmets I want. Also I won't be putting my car into any situation that involves me slamming into any walls or tires...etc. The only worry is if my coupe rolls, which I'm hoping it won't considering it's fairly low.

I want to get a feel for drifting, but I'm not willing to put my baby at risk of totalling.

look at bell for a cheaper alternative thats way better than gforce, but not overly expensive.

should be able to get a m2 for 300ish. i sell racing safety equipment for a living, i like bell. i use bell.

and dont be afraid of wrecking. its better to have it go out on track being used than when some drunk idiot runs a red light.

gforce really that bad? Damn i didnt' know if they were. I've been using one for like 2 years now. can you post why you say they're not safe for your head? You sell the equipment, so you would know better than most.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into them.

I'm moreso worried about my insurance not covering the 21k bill that I owe my credit union.

that is a strange situation with insurance companies. you need to talk to yours. the GENERAL rule of thumb, is if there is no timing involved (i.e. upper level HPDE, time attack, and autocross) they WILL cover the car. anything without a clock, and with instruction is usually just considered a "car control clinic" and those arent frowned upon by insurance companies. BUT you need to find out for sure because some just say NO to everything.

this just hit me in the head...well actually it was my freshly welded in 6 point hitting my Gforce helmet....i was wondering, does some1 make a smaller helmet???? of course still SA2005 at least?? might sound weird, but if a company does, i would be hella interested cuz my current helmet is gonna get dinged up bad with my new cage.
