Hey guys, I have been reading this forum for a while and very impressed with the sort of expert suggestions made here. Thank you all.I am buying the 2009 Nissan Versa at the end of this month. I want to replace the factory speakers and add two more speakers at the back of the car. So in total it will be 6 speakers. From what I have seen, the Versa has a speaker in each of the four doors. From the online pictures available, I did not see any tweeters (or I may have missed them). After reading all the posts, I have decided on getting the Infinity Reference 6022i. Do you think that is a good buy and does the 6022i come with 2 big speakers and 2 tweeters? I am not very good at all the technical specs, pretty amateurish actually. All I want for my car are 6 speakers, an amplifier and a subwoofer. All this in a very limited budget of $400. I am not going to replace the Head Unit as I think it is fine. The type of music that I listen to is Hip hop, Rap, R&B, Rock, Alternative. I have always wanted to hear the thumping bass from all the hip hop songs that I have in my collection. So if there is anything in the market that would help me in these questions, I would be really grateful. I don't get the car till the end of this month so I hope I get some suggestions before that. I am really confused as to what to get, so please do help me out. Thanks

SL has speakers in the A pillar and the option of the 8" sub in the rear. To me that's all that is needed.

You could always get a Bazooka tube for the bass. It is easy to install and gives you some bass. Not the bass that will rattle your kidneys but enough of a thump.

You have a few questions to consider before you can get a good answer to your question.

1 - Which model will you get? As mentioned the SL has tweeters in the A column which might simplify things a bit. There is also the option for an 8 inch sub which might cover what you need. The audio package adds an invoice of $260, MSRP of $300 to the base price, well within your $400 target.

2 - Assuming you don't go with the audio package, will you do the install yourself or paying to have it done? Either way will install come within the $400?

3 - How much do you care about the luggage storage area? You could probably get a decent amp and subwoofer combo for about $250, then get four new door speakers for the other $150, and get a pretty good setup.

4 - Why/what do you mean by six speakers? 4 door and 2 tweeters? 4 door and 2 subs?

These quesitons should help narrow down what to look at.

Actually, the luggage storage area is not that big of a concern for me. All that I will be keeping in there are essential tools for the car. So yea, I can utilize the boot pretty well. By 6 speakers, I was referring to 4 door and 2 more at the back of the car (just behind the back of the rear passengers). I don't think tweeters make that big of a difference. I hope this answers the question. I am not getting the SL as it costs a bit more. Installation won't cost me that much as I know someone who can get it done for me for pretty cheap. Sub and amp combo sounds great, what models should I be looking at? For the combo and the speakers.

As an afterthought, is it ok to go for a bass tube instead of the subwoofer and the amplifier separately? I think a bass tube has a built in amplifier and gives out enough bass for a small hatcback like the Versa. Any inputs on this would be appreciated.

I was surprised how much of a difference they made in mine. And even if you don't get the SL, the openings are there and the wiring in place in the S, as we discovered in another thread.

Some tubes are powered, some require an amp. One might give you adaquate bass in a small car like ours, depends on your goals.

By the way you are talking it sounds like you're getting a sedan. If so, you could use one or two free-air subs behind the back seat. Still would require an amp, but fairly easy to set up.

Adding two more speakers on the rear deck will suck power from whichever line you hook them to, lowering your overall amperage to all four speakers on said line. You may want to look at adding an amp to go with them, or disconnecting the rear door speakers and just using the rear deck ones you'll be adding.

so you are saying that adding two additional speakers in the rear deck would reduce amperage for the other four speakers? Ok, that sounds reasonable. So do you think the existing speakers at the doors are sufficient to give a good listening effect? And no, I am getting the hatchback, sorry if I made it sound any different. If I look at getting a powered Bass Tube like the JBL Bass Pro II, would that be a good replacement for a subwoofer and an amplifier? Or am I better off getting a conventional subwoofer along with an amplifier? Also should I get an amplifier for the sub separately and another amplifier for the four speakers in the car? Or is one amplifier good enough to power the sub and the speakers? I am trying to reduce cost here so which one is a more feasible option?

there is one from BOSS audio called BASS600 thats more than enough for a car like Versa size and if you want more thump then go for BASS800 which is on sale in COSTCO whole sale for $129 and there is something called PYLE thats even more sexier and cheaper and interestingly they all are < $150 and wouldn't take much space at all and portable also
