Ok so here goes im looking at putting in a new cam set up after im done with my suspension upgrades, but not sure how to go about it im looking at camshafts and at PDM racing , Jim Wolf Tech and a few others. Im looking for good preformance as well as reliabliity im not a person who can afford to have to make many modifications to actually have it installed right so minimal moding to any part of the engine(if thats possible would be nice. So far for my vehicle all ive bought is a Typhoon short ram air intake and im still waiting fot it to arrive after that its going to be coil over springs and front and rear sway bars. strut braces for front and back as well as struts themselves, the cams will be the second step towards a super engine im always looking for good advice considering this is my first venture into the import market ive built muscle cars before but this is different and although the steps in going performnce are generally the same the way you go about them is different so advice from experienced 240 pilots is greatly appreciated pics of my ride being posted soon (after that damn intake gets installed.... yes im plannign to go KA-T and at this point aiming for 250hp

lets see horse power goals im aiming in the begining to go up to like 250 to 300 hp with the possibliity of some real high end tuning later on i am planing on going turbo and at first only running like 4 to 5 psi and then after i get more suited internals pump it up to 8 at max more if the engine can handle it. This car is going to be a daily driver but its going to be able to blow the doors off any nerw camaro or challenger/charger rolling around today. Its going to go into quter mile runs but only like once a month at the local darg strip

you have allot to think about...if your going to build a high end car down the line..then you might aswell buy the parts now..insted of buying them twice..what im gettin at..is you can buy say a BC stage 2 cam and not need to clearence anything...but if ya plan on the high end build down the road..you can just buy the BC stage 3 ..272's cams and clearence the head now for it and save the 300 bucks fo your piston set up..or even better ..300 bucks = arp head/main/rod studs with lunch to spare...theres lots to think about man on your build with your plans for it as described..

Ok well thats an idea that im considering but will installing those parts end up holding back the power while its non turboed??i mean i am going that way in all likely hood but im not looking forward to doing the valve clearance issues im thinking that if i dont do it properly the first time it take awhile before i get a chance to reconfigure?? and what about the Jim Wolf cams it looks like theyll hold up toi the power quiet well without having to deal to much with valve clearance issues??

longer and larger lift cams depending how drastic you go..may need to be clearenced..at least on the head side like mine...my cams would not rotate around the head untill i shaved the bucket cradles a bit for the cam lobes..

as far as it hurting power..it really dosent..it just moves the power band up the rpm range more...you will notice a difference in power for the better..with a 4-2-1 header..you can get back a little lower end too...i would allso sugest duel springs with more spring rate...this will allow you to rev higher without worrying to much about floating valves and smackin em with a piston..you should really plan out what you want man...if you have to run bone stock for now and just save the good parts for when your rdy to build..then do it that way...but ither way you go..a good set of cams will kik ya a few extra horses.
