my new s14 has lowering springs on it already (sportlines) but stock shocks. i know it's not a good idea so i'll be replacing the shocks with AGXs soon. what kind of other stuff should i replace while i'm in there? i've thought about camber plates and pillow ball mounts in the rear, but that's probably farther down the road.

are there any other wear parts or upgrades i'm not thinking about?

do new AGXs come with new boots or do i have to buy those seperatly?

i've thought about coilovers but i don't want to deal with ridiculously high spring rates on a mostly street driven car. feel free to try to convince me otherwise.

Eh, i think coilovers are overkill myself, unless the car is going to see circuit time or heavy-duty drifting you don't need them.

Sportlines eh? If you get the AGX's they won't last long with them. Plus the Sportlines drop will void the AGX's warranty. Go with Koni, since they're higher quality and can probably put up with the absurd progressive spring rates that Eibach decided to use for such a drop.

I'd replace your strut mounts, and the AGX's don't come with boots, so if you need them--get 'em. Tirerack has them both.

I actually have koni shocks with sportline springs. The shocks are holding up extremely well with the springs. They've been installed on the car for the ~9k miles that I've had it, as well as a long time before I bought it too. The ride isn't too harsh, I think it's perfect. I had to buy adjustable camber arms for the rear, and I need some way to adjust the front still. It's not so off that the tires wear from it, but it's noticible compaired to the rears.

the car is 800 miles away, give me a break. i'll be sure to take some pics when i put the new exhaust and five lug on in two weeks.

i've had AGXs and i really liked the adjustability. either soft/firm for street/track or front/back to balance the car. i would love to go with the konis but i thought they weren't adjustable or only the fronts were or something.

I think the Koni's are only adjustable if you remove them from the car or remove the wheels or something. You can mod them for external adjustment, but that adds $$.

Why dont you wait til you kill your stock shocks before you upgrade?? As sky said, the Sportlines will make the AGx's wear out faster too.

i've driven with AGXs and i know how much better they are than stock. i don't like the current feel of the car without them. that and i'm going to do some serious autoXing this summer, probably 6 races in 2 months, and i want the adjustability now.

to defend the AGXs a little, i had a set on my S13 with pro-kits, not as low, but still enough to void the warranty. i put about 15k miles on them and i got them used with 5k miles on them. they were doing just fine when i sold the car. i've heard others complain about them, but i think i'll risk it for the ease of adjustability.

consider replacing the rear mounts with pillow ball mounts as well. my stock rubber ones are making this horrible groaning/creaking sound at low speed.

My front koni's are adjustable from under the hood, there's a key that turns a dial that pokes right up through the top of the strut tower. The rears have to be adjusted from underneath the car, I dont remember if they have to be taken off or not.
