I have a 91 240sx with the KA24DE. It has 150,000 miles. It runs well, and at WOT pulls ok, but at 5500 it gets a very sudden burst of power and pulls hard all the way to redline. I was thinking it might be normal operation of the intake manifold butterflies, but I don't know much about how that system works. Is this normal operation, or is my engine supposed to pull this strong all the time? It isn't a gradual increase in power, it's very abrupt.

Thanks for any insight.

Damn I forgot all about that, should've showed you how the engine in mine ran when we drove. The intake butterflies operate at around 2000-2500 RPM IIRC, and their effect is not as noticable as that abrupt surge 5500RPM I felt from your car.Definitely not normal operation!
