Hi guys,

First, I considered putting this in the Classifieds or Infiniti Parts section, but I think most guys who might have coils to sell are more than likely watching this forum.

So, today the old '92 Q (the reliable one) got a sudden, distinct miss, DAMN IT ALL! Less than 2000 kms ago we had it apart - new fuel pump and knock sensors. It's been running like a top ever since - actually peppier than the '95 with the JWT ECU (also with new knock sensors!).

I just checked the injector resistance again (did it when the plenum was off for the knock sensors) and they're all 12-13 ohms - just like a month ago and also when checked prior in December 2004. At that time we were tracing a dead cylinder that turned out to be the #1 coil.

I'm going to put some new fuel in now with some gas line antifreeze in case there's water in the bottom of the tank. It is near empty, but the gas came from a regular high volume location. Still, just to be sure, it gets the alcohol.

So does anybody have a set of coils and be willing to part with one? After only 1 coil failure in 315,000 kms, I am quite OK with putting in a used one. I think they're pretty long-lived.

Thanks,Glenn

ISO-Heet only! Must be ethanol, not methanol.

IsoHeet is isopropyl alcohol not ethanol [corn licker].

70/30 Rubbing alcohol is Iso Heet with 30% water added [show how much water Iso can hold without becoming cloudy].

Of course. Pardon the brain freeze.

Never ethanol.

Hi guys,

Well, when I went out to get the alcohol yesterday the engine started right up and ran like a million bucks. I put in some fresh gas and ran some errands and all was fine. A little later I went somewhere that I had to wait in line idling and, guess what, $$$$ing thing suddenly turned into a 7 cylinder again. I'm certain now that it is an ignition problem and think it most likely is a coil. When I can get to the shop we'll do a power balance test (after it loses the cylinder) and swap the dead cylinder's coil to another cylinder and see if the miss follows it. So, does anybody have coils to sell?

Thanks,Glenn
