Kind of sucks that I have to lend my mom my Z for a while because her car has major problems and her gas eats alot. She told me her full tank for her car is $85!! Anyways she's a really slow driver and kind of careless at times because of what happened to her car. I'm going to take my lip off tomorrow off the front bumper because i already know she's going to scrape the **** out of it. Not only that but her work is full of ****ty drivers ever since what happened to her car. Alot of dings & scratches on her car. Not only that but a hit and run happened to her 2 times already but nothing major. Since she can't drive a manual I'm going to be driving my beater car which is a manual. And yes my Z is an AUTO

All I can say is that you are a stand up guy for helping out your mom. There are a lot of people who wouldn't do that for the person who brought them into this world.

My hat is off to you friend, and I hope karma returns this favor to you.

ive lent my mom my most my "baby" before. this was before i had my z. i osed to have an 88 monte carlo ss, it had a zz4 crate motor and turbo350 transmission and a good amount of other mods. either way whenever she used to borrow she wouldnt let it warm up. she also has a lead foot. so cold engine and a holley carb means blown power valve. car had about 300 wheel horsepower, nothing crazy just a fun car to drive. the way i began to look at it is, you make your mom happy by helping out, and worst comes to worst you learn something about your car by having to fix it .

Hey man you gotta do what you gotta do. I would give my mom the shirt off my back if I haad too. The initial handing over of the keys is the hard part but after its home safe and sound the first time you get used to it. I let my ma take my ZR every now and then so that she can roll around with the top down on a nice day. I think moms are good at realizing that it is difficult for us to part with our babies and tend to repay the favor by taking you to the mall or something.

Besides higher insurance costs and the fact that 16 yrd old boys are more likely to have an accident than any other single demographic, nothing.

Gee , that's shocking to hear from someone who's 17(?)

Why? My father was highly skilled driving sports cars in his 70's.

Is that really that they drive slow or is it more likely that that they tend not to exceed posted speed limits, and you get frustrated while stuck driving behind them? I suspect it's the latter.

I find it amusing so many 16-17 yr old kids whose average driving experience is measured in months consider themselves better drivers than people with decades more driving experience.

IMHO, there are plenty of bad drivers at every age, but there are clearly more bad 16 yr old drivers than any other age, based on insurance data..

I was once an impatient teenager too. Your views on this subject will change as you get older, trust me.

Chivalry isn't dead! I'm glad to hear people still take care of their families, this thread is refreshing! Family is much more important than a car...

hahaha, my grandma taught me how to drive stick too! Back in the day cars weren't fancy with all this automatic mumbojumbo...lol. She's pretty good at it too - she brought my brother's mustang GT home when he first got it...

Many old people tend to drive the speed limit, and are generally cautious of others around them.

16-25 single male's have the highest crash frequency and highest crash severity of any other demographic bracket driving on the road. I'm pretty much predicting that you're going to be in an accident.

And as for you bashing older drivers, my 77 year old grandpa will show you a thing or two on how to drive - he used to track race in the 60's and was a times square firefighter and could dodge traffic in a several ton fire engine.

they do 20 in a 30 i may exceed the seped limit but only by 10mph sometimes a lil more if im late for school. but only if the road conditions permit that speed.thats ur predicting im gonna be in an accident if i am the brakes must have failed or someone hit me.thats the only way.

Wow thats pretty cool of you to do. But is she paying for your car?LOL. I paid for my Z and unless it's an emergency, I would never let my mom or dad drive my Z without me in the car. Ill just offer to driver her around or better yet, have her trade in the gas guzzler and get a more gas friendly car

Some may find this horrible, others ingenious.

My mother and aren't on good terms, BUT if she needed a car and I had my G and something else, I would probably lend my G to a friend who was a competent driver and take their car for my mom before I let my mom touch my G.

My mom has had 2 or 3 accidents in the past 2 years. She has vision issues but is too stubborn to go fix them. She carries 2 cell phones which she will simultaneously use (not really a multitasker, just bad a setting priorities).

She also can't drive manual, so that already clears both my G and my wife's celica (my wife would probably divorce me if I ever told her to lend her car to my mom )
