Guys

I spent all night trying to figure out how to get my hitachi CAS apart, it was a complete biatch.......never actually got it apart.

The intent was to change over to the AEM 24 tooth disc from the OEM 360

After fidgeting with it for a long time, I said screw it and decided to see if I could get the Z32 CAS to work.

I had a cut Z32 harness, so I just depinned the connector from the Z32 cas, and swapped it over after removing the RB26 connector. I simply stuck the Z32 CAS in, and it worked like a charm. I then went to work on swapping out the disc, and after 90 mins or so, I made the necessary changes to AEM and it fired up. I still need to sync the timing, but all works

I will have a full write-up with pics on how to disassemble the CAS for those guys wanting to do the AEM 24tooth wheel swap

Sort of....

However, I actually took pics throughout the process showing how certain parts are removed and what tools I used. That thread basically just has some pics (and some blurry) of the parts after they have been removed

No, what I was asking was if you basically did was that, or if there was an easier way. Its nice to know these things since the RB parts aren't exactly falling out of trees in the US (for good prices anyway)

Yes, I pretty much took it apart like that

The best solution for guys with failing CAS, is just to source a Z32 Plug and swap the CAS for a Z32 one....

Good to hear, anytime we can use anything USDM I am all for it. Were you having any trouble with the AEM where you had to swap the wheel? I hear it works fine on some cars and others the wheel is mandatory.

I got a 300zx cas to work on my rb25, there was a significant difference, but it is plug and play to an extent. See my photo here. rb25-to-300zx-cas-conversion-t601995.html
