Hi folks, I'm a new registrant but have been sifting thru threads for a while now. I am considering trying an S13/S14 - DET for a project car, and am curious how many people here would say they have 'success stories' in these swaps? Have any of you actually picked up the car, ordered an engine, gotten the car up and running in, say, under six months, and enjoyed reasonably trouble-free operation? It seems like what most people are posting here are their tales of woe rather than stories of the fun they are having w/ their turbocharged pseudo-Silvias...

Thanks!

Paul

I personally own a 180SX that came already with the CA engine (Euro model) and had no problems so far, meaning if the engine is well taken care of it will be enjoyable for a long time!!!I see the problems with the swaps, and think it's a mixture of not knowing what u get (U never know how the engine was treated by the previous owner) and sometimes u just have to improve on the swap (missing parts, making parts fit, etc.) and that's what leads to all these problems during or after swaps.

and then there is another factor...we are all eager to get started with our cars...so the tendency is to spend all of your money and then not QUITE have enough stuff to finish it up right :) So then it turns into an ongoing project

Hopefully i'll have a success story soon. My engine came in to venus today and i just overnited them the rest of the balance. I plan on starting the swap on the 25th and i've only got until the 4th of may for the next autox. So maybe i'll have a one week or less install success story and a good race to go along with it!! :)
