My system runs off a 4 gauge wire as well, I think anything smaller would fit in the existing hole, but your probably gonna have to drill it through the firewall. I did something out of the ordinary and figured out a way to get it through without any drilling, I got it through the body panels on the driver side. If you give me about half an hour Ill go out and take some pics.

Ill tell you this much bro' the altima is one of the most difficult cars Ive worked on in regards to running the power wire inside the car but I did find a way..bad thing is that I had to drill a little hole on a piece of plastic. Heres the info, hope it helps and let me know if you need more info.

1. Remove the glove box compartment -easy. 5 screws from inside and 3 from the bottom rear, then remove two electrical clips on the left hand side of the glove box "One is the trunk opener button" and if you disconnect that wire you wont be able to open your trunk until you connected back again.[IMG][/IMG]

2. Once you remove the glove box you have to locate a fire wall plastic plug on the upper right hand corner, theres two of them, take off the upper one.[IMG][/IMG]

3. Once you take off the plug you'll be able to see somelight coming through and then next step is to open up your hood and drill a small hole for the wire to pass through.

4. With a small drill or anything, drill a small hole (See picture) on the passenger side of the plastic guard[IMG][/IMG]

5. Now you can run the wire through.[IMG][/IMG]

Misc:!!!! just for ref, the stereo remote wire to turn the amps off and on is the purple with yellow wire.[IMG][/IMG]

.. Hope this helps.

I also ran 4 gauge. But I didnt drill a hole. There is a place underneth the drivers side where all the wires run through into the engine bay. The bad part is that you will have to cut some of the insolation out. And some more bad news is where the wires come through is behind the drive side strut tower. If you remove the top part of your intake you can see the wires. Good luck to ya. It took me forever.

Has anyone put a system in with bose. How did you do it without distorting the speakers?

I ran 10 gauge wire for my setup, but you should be able to run 4 gauge in the same location as I did, just might take a little more doing aka more frustration . I used the following pictures when I ran my wire through the firewall.

You will need a wire hanger and some duct tape to make things eaiser with pulling your power wire through hard to reach spaces like the firewall grommet.

Once I go it through the firewall, I ran it under the kick plates, under the rear panels and to the trunk.

+1

I want to install an additional sub + amp to handle the sub.My audio tech recommended disconnecting the two bose subs in the trunk and simply using the new 12" and it's amp to put out all my bass and to keep the front and the rest of the front bose speakers tweaked for the highs and mids. This made sense to me considering my understanding is that one cannot add a more powerful amplifier to the existing bose speakers since they are such a low load?

I would prefer the bose speakers to be a tad louder, and I need more bass (even with the bass all the way up). Any recommendations?

I just added a sub to my Bose system. My installer just used a high low converter, and I don't get any distortion. I believe all my speakers work, because I used the "fade" and the "balance" to check if each corner of my car was playing music. AND i think my Bose subs work too, because if I disconnect the subs, I still get the same bass I used to get without the subs.

@ notaverage:Is there a delay or distortion when using both the bose subs and your added subwoofer at the same time? Do you usually listen to music with all 3 subs going or did you disable the two bose subs?

I listen to all 3 subs at once. Now that you mention it, SOMETIMES, and i mean RARELY, when one song ends, and the other begins, my 2 Bose subs kick in 0.5 seconds faster than my Kicker.

Ahh, figured that'd be the case. What type of music do you listen to normally?

Some genres of music would be impacted/distorted by that delay.

I mostly listen to hip hop. 95% of the time

But sometimes I like alternative (I think it's alternative, i don't really know anymore, but I like the Fray, Green Day, etc..., so whatever category that is)
